Seminyak Food Trail

Food trails should be made a rite of passage for all, and with all the good eats available in Bali, there is no reason not to go on one while you are on the island of the gods.

Seminyak is famous for having the most diverse and eclectic selection of eateries you can find in Bali. From French fine dining under the stars, to slurping up tasty noodles in a roadside Warung, there is plenty to tempt your palate. How do we even choose from the long list of great eateries in Seminyak! This is by no means an exhaustive list, but just a mention of some of our favorites.

Stop 1: Rice for Breakfast

Are you used to a small piece of toast and coffee for breakfast? Kickstart your day the Balinese way with a hearty portion of Nasi Campur! Yes, the Balinese have rice even for breakfast. It is literally translated into ‘mixed rice’ and is basically a dish of rice topped with various meats and vegetables and perhaps curry or chilli. In Bali, you might find tofu, spinach, beef cubes and cucumbers nestled on top of your warm bed of rice, drenched in a tasty curry sauce. It is sold virtually all over Bali, and you can get your fix from any street vendor. If you prefer to have it in a certified restaurant, you can visit Made’s Warung, a popular spot for tourists. Made’s Warung is open daily from 8am.

Stop 2: Lunch with 5 Monkeys

Oh! We don’t mean the monkeys in Ubud Sacred Monkey Forest. Seminyak has its own (tasty) version of monkeys. Besides a delicious local cuisine, did you know that you can easily get mouthwatering western food in Seminyak?

The 5 Monkeys is a hip little burger joint, where you can grab fresh juicy burgers and wash it down with a cold beer, perfect for lunch. Choose from a selection of six delicious burgers made from fresh beef, fish or chicken patties. They are all served with a tasty signature sauce and your choice of French fries, curly fries and onion rings. Enjoy it with an ice cold beer or a creamy milkshake.

If you don’t fancy burgers, a whole range of eateries in Seminyak serve other favourites such as pasta and pizza, pies and fish and chips.

Stop 3: Do you prefer your Afternoon Tea sweet or savoury?

Fortunately you don’t have to decide, when you choose to stop by at Bali Bakery for a mid day refreshment. It is one of the most famous bakeries in Bali, and a must do for all those who enjoy pastries and cakes. Comfort food has never tasted more delicious. You can choose from an array of sweet confectioneries such as Tiramisu, cheesecake, dessert pies, eclairs and donuts. If you feel more than peckish,  go for the hot savories such as lasagne. Yum!

 Stop 4: Arabian Nights

You are spoilt for choice in terms of night life in Seminyak. There are plenty of themed restaurants, fine dining and exciting bars where you can have fine food and drinks.

One such example is Khaima a gorgeous Moroccan themed restaurant that exudes the exotic mystique of the Orient. Indulge yourself with middle eastern delights such as flavorful  kebabs, tagine and olive bread with humus dips to name a few. Whilst you enjoy the feast, belly dancers swirl and twirl around in a myriad of colors, swaying to sensuous and enchanting tunes. On some occasions, the ceiling is opened, to give diners a fantastic experience of dining under the stars. At the back of the restaurant, there are also sofas that are perfect for lounging with post dinner drinks after a hearty meal. http://www.baliaround.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/khaima2.jpg
