ricefieldAs many as the festivals, ceremonies, beaches, temples and sunsets in Bali; there must be plenty of stories about Bali out there. I would like to share one interesting story here, not a very long one, just for your inner history cravings!

The first tale starts from the 7th century, when a person named Maha Rsi Markandeya started a journey to the east of Dawa Island (Java Island). He completed his quest in his second visit, as during the first one, many of his followers died due to wild animals. After he completed his journey, he taught his existing followers of ceremonies consisting three offerings: water, fire and scented flower. His teaching is called “Bali” religion and as his followers dispersed throughout the island, the area is known then as “Bali”. Moreover, in that era, offering is actually called bebali, and it is concluded that “Bali” came from bebali, which means offering and that almost represent the Balinese life, with offerings wherever you go.

So yes! Now you can travel to Bali with more confidence, as you have known Bali in person 😉
