Travelling may help couples stick together

Have you heard of this article that has been trending on Facebook: Couples ought to travel together before getting married?

We think that there may be a grain of truth in that. True love is not just about sweet nothings, flowers and romantic dates. To make things work out in the long run, it requires great teamwork, excellent rapport and communication skills as well as a method to solve disagreements and problems together.

Since you probably don’t have many friends in a foreign land, you’re forced to become best buddies in no time. Most people forget that a healthy friendship is the basis to solid relationships and lasting marriages. Being stuck together 24/7, you also soon identify each others’ bad habits and funny quirks, and (hopefully) learn to cope with them.

Why not consider Bali as one of your destinations?

1. Bali is cheap

Couples may bemoan the fact that traveling is too expensive for young couples! However, Bali is certainly an inexpensive destination. Many of the best attractions in Bali are free (or at least cheap), and you can enjoy the splendid natural wonders of Bali without paying. After all, it costs you nothing to go to the beach or stroll amongst the rice fields.

You can try delicious local food for US$2, and comfortable air conditioned taxis will take you around for a small fee. There is also a wide range of accommodation options in Bali and you can surely find something that suits your budget.

2. Bali is a challenge

To really get to know each other, it is essential that both of you step out of your comfort zone. Do something you’ve never done before, or never thought you would try. It is important that you learn to face challenges and problems as a couple.

There is plenty of room for an adventure in Bali. Couples can bond over an arduous hike up a volcanic mountain, or confront their fears by learning to dive in the deep blue sea… Having your partner by your side, encouraging you all the way can be comforting when you are trying something you are afraid of.

On the other hand, if they mock you for being a scaredy cat, maybe they’re not quite worth keeping around for too long…

3. Bali is cultural

Getting to know each other is not all sweat and grime. You and your sweetheart can learn more about each other by exploring a new culture together. Is your other half sensitive and respectful of differences? Their attitude towards differences likely applies to you too. Visiting some of the sacred temples in Bali, or taking part in yoga or meditation may give both of you time to ponder and reflect upon your relationship with each other. A new insight may just help you spice up and improve your relationship and communication with each other.

4. Bali is comfortable

For a little bit of enjoyment and relaxation, Bali also offers plenty of comfort. Couples can unwind with couple massages or spa treatments, or indulge in a bit of comfort food, all at reasonable prices. The local hospitality will also surely warm your hearts and touch your souls. A friendly smile goes a long way when it’s just two of you alone in a foreign land.

Traveling with a loved one is always a special experience to be treasured, and the laughter and joys you shared with your love will always be a fond recollection.
