Most Popular Areas for a Bali Villa in Uluwatu

Uluwatu offers some truly stunning scenery with its white sand beaches and clifftop vistas overlooking the Indian Ocean. You can also find many beachside cafes and some of the best beach clubs in Bali located in this beautiful area. If you plan to stay in Uluwatu, here are some of the areas you should consider:

Padang Padang. This is the best area to stay in if you don't have your own transport because it’s close to Padang Padang Beach. This spot is well-known for having the best surf and you can also swim in the shallow areas too. Make sure to stay along or near the main road of Jalan Labuan Sait, preferably around the middle or closer to the beach end of the street. The road is long and hilly, so prepare yourself for a bit of exercise if you choose to walk.

Bingin Beach and Suluban Beach. If you stay in this area, it’s best to rent a car as places in Uluwatu tend to be far apart from each other. Both areas have great restaurants, beautiful beaches and a laid-back atmosphere. You’ll also find many cliffside beach clubs like Single Fin and Ulu Cliffhouse around Suluban Beach and you’ll also be close to the famous Uluwatu Temple.

Ungasan Beach and Melasti Beach. The beaches in the Ungasan and Melasti area are quite remote but very peaceful. If you’re looking to be away from it all, this is the perfect place to make as your hideout. This stretch of coast is also home to some of Bali's finest beaches, alongside beach clubs such as Sundays, Karma and Palmilla where you can relax all day.

Balangan Beach and Dreamland Beach. More beautiful and secluded beaches can be found in this area. You’ll truly feel one with nature when you’re here and there are also plenty of surfbreaks in this area that are less crowded than Padang Padang. Make sure you rent a car too while you stay here.

Nyang Nyang. This is probably the most challenging place to get to in Uluwatu, however, because of its remoteness, it also has the least tourists and you’ll feel like you’re in your own secluded slice of paradise. If you plan on spending all your time at the beach, this is the spot to go to. Just make sure you stock up on groceries before you get to your accommodation.

Why I love Uluwatu & Bingin

Uluwatu and Bingin are two of my favorite areas in Bali when I’m craving dramatic ocean views, laid-back vibes, and a bit of barefoot luxury. Perched on the cliffs of the Bukit Peninsula, the villas and accommodations here are all about those jaw-dropping sunsets and sea breezes. It’s hard not to feel completely switched off from the world. Bingin, in particular, has this cozy surf-town feel with hidden cafés, winding paths, and a beautiful beach that’s worth the climb. Uluwatu offers more space and a slightly more refined energy, plus you’re near iconic temples and world-class beach clubs. It’s a stunning corner of Bali that always makes me feel like I’m on a proper island escape: quiet, scenic, and effortlessly cool.

Why We Love to Stay in Uluwatu

Whoever said paradise only exists in dreams certainly hasn't set foot in Uluwatu. Nestled on the southern coast of Bali, Uluwatu is an enchanting mix of breathtaking beaches, thrilling activities, and rich cultural experiences—making it ideal for families, groups of friends, and couples alike. Picture this: pristine white sands meeting turquoise waters at Dreamland Beach or Balangan Beach, where each stretch of shoreline seems like it was tailor-made for your Instagram feed. Whether you're riding gentle waves with the kids at Baby Padang or spending a blissfully relaxing day sunbathing, Uluwatu's beaches offer both adventure and rejuvenation in spades.

But Uluwatu is more than just a beach lover's haven. Families will adore the educational experiences offered by local cultural gems. The iconic Uluwatu Temple, perched majestically on a cliff, offers stunning ocean views and the thrill of spotting cheeky monkeys. As the sun sets, the temple comes alive with mesmerising Kecak and Fire Dance performances—an absolute must-see. For those craving adrenaline, parasailing, jet skiing and banana boat rides ensure thrill-seekers of all ages will be thoroughly entertained.

After soaking in the splendour of Uluwatu's many attractions, you can easily retreat to your luxurious villa and unwind in style. You can have a private chef prepare a sumptuous meal while you relax poolside, perhaps enjoying a stunning sunset over the ocean. And why not indulge further with a private masseuse to ease those adventure-weary muscles? If you feel like getting dressed up and going for a night out with your partner or friends, Uluwatu delivers with spots like cliffside dining at El Kabron and beach club vibes at Ulu Cliffhouse. Whether you're looking for relaxation, exploration or a bit of both, unforgettable memories are guaranteed to be made in Uluwatu.

Yes, Uluwatu is definitely worth visiting if you love dramatic cliffs, ocean views, and sunset spots. It’s famous for its clifftop temples, surf breaks, and beach clubs with spectacular views. Many travellers come here for a few days of relaxation at the beginning or end of their Bali trip.
Uluwatu can be good for families, especially those with older kids or teens who enjoy beach time, surfing, and exploring. Many villas have pools and plenty of space, but note that some beaches require steep staircases to access, which may be challenging for very young children or anyone with mobility issues.
Uluwatu is generally safe for tourists. As with any beach destination, it’s important to be cautious around cliffs, strong waves, and when swimming. Keep valuables secure at the beach and use reliable transport, especially at night when roads can be dark and winding.
Most visitors enjoy spending 2 to 4 days in Uluwatu, which is enough time to visit the temple, watch a sunset Kecak dance, relax at beaches and beach clubs, and unwind at your villa. If you like a slower pace or plan to surf daily, a longer stay can be very rewarding.
Many Uluwatu beaches are better suited for surfing than casual swimming because of strong waves, reefs, and currents. Confident swimmers may enjoy certain spots at the right tide, but it’s always wise to check local conditions and follow safety advice. For gentle swimming, families often prefer beaches elsewhere in Bali with calmer waters.
