Nusa Lembongan Villas For Your Holiday

If you’re thinking of taking a mini trip while on your actual trip to Bali, then the villas on the neighbouring islands are definitely worth considering. Nusa Lembongan is part of a cluster of islands that are located just east of Bali and can be reached via a half hour boat ride from Sanur. Imagine Bali 30 years ago – this is what staying on Nusa Lembongan is like. There’s fewer people, less noise and more beach all to yourself.

Your beach villa on this offshore island is just what you'd expect of a tropical retreat - stunning coastal views, a beautiful garden with your own private pool and nice indoor and outdoor living spaces to enjoy. And like any luxury holiday rental, the service is impeccable - from housekeeping to cooking and laundry, all your daily needs will be taken care of so you won't have to lift a finger.

Well, what are you waiting for? Give our Bali villa specialists a call, and they'll sort you right out with a Nusa Lembongan villa that meets your holiday needs.

Most Popular Areas for Lembongan Beach Villas

If you're after being close to the beach, surf and diving then a short trip to Nusa Lembongan in East Bali is exactly what you need. If you’re not sure which area to stay in, hopefully, this will give you an idea.

Jungut Batu Beach. This is where most speedboats drop you off in Nusa Lembongan. Even though speedboat companies provide transport to drop you off at your accommodation, staying in this area is still the most convenient option. The main strip is lined with restaurants, cafes, and bars, and there’s also a nearby surf spot.

Mushroom Bay. This area is the most family-friendly to stay in. The water here is nice and calm, and while it would be nice for swimming, there are many boats docked around the water and lots of watersports going on, so it might be best to just watch the sunset by the shore - it’s absolutely spectacular from here.

Sandy Bay. Also known as Sunset Beach, is next to Mushroom Beach. This beach fronts the Sandy Bay Beach Club. The waves can be quite strong, so it's not ideal for swimming. However, it's another lovely spot to admire the sunset. You’ll find many beautiful villas in this area and we recommend staying here if you’re looking for peace and quiet.

Coconut Bay and Tamarind Beach. These are two beaches you'll pass walking from Jungut Batu to Mushroom Bay. Coconut Beach is a great place to bring the kids, and Tamarind Beach has some budget-friendly accommodations. You can also stop by Secret Beach, one of Lembongan’s most beautiful beaches.

Dream Beach. It’s further up than the rest of the beaches, but it has a beautiful view. However, the waves here are quite strong, so we don’t recommend swimming. But you can take lots of photos though, and the kids can build sand castles on the sand!

The snorkelling here is world-class, too. Just imagine swimming in a living aquarium – that’s what it’s like. For spectacular views and that perfect sunset selfie, you must visit Devil's Tear where the dramatic cliffs provide a stunning backdrop. Or if you're after something more serene, wander through the mystical Mangrove Forest and be amazed by its unique ecosystem.

But of course, a great holiday isn't just about activities; it’s also about the food—and Nusa Lembongan doesn't disappoint. You can enjoy a nourishing and delicious vegan meal at Playful Table, savour Italian delights at Al Ponte, or treat your tastebuds to Mediterranean magic at La Kaban. If you’re travelling with kids, a game of mini golf at The Coconut Hut is always a hit, and bonding over a family cooking class will leave you with delicious memories. After a day of sun and fun, you can also enjoy a private massage in your villa to truly unwind. Whether you’re travelling with family, friends, or a special someone, Nusa Lembongan is the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation.

Nusa Lembongan is a wonderful island to take your family on a fun-filled getaway. This is a relatively quiet island, not much bars or parties go on in here, so it makes for a very relaxed atmosphere. Nusa Lembongan is also only 30 minutes away from Bali’s mainland, which means you won’t have to sit on a boat with the kids for a long time and they won’t get all fussy.

As soon as you arrive the island, you’re greeted with crystal clear water that will have you so excited to dive right in. Snorkelling, surfing, stand up paddle boarding and diving are all on offer in Nusa Lembongan, and if your family is the adventurous type, then you’ll definitely have loads of fun under the sun! But hey, if your family is just looking for some chill and relaxation, you can always spend your time on the beach or in your villa’s pool area. If your family loves to eat, there are plenty of cafes and restaurants that serve fabulous food. It’s best to dine out by a beachside resto when golden hour starts because this island is known for its magical sunsets. Whatever you choose to do, you and your whole crew are guaranteed to have a memorable time in Nusa Lembongan!
Nusa Lembongan offers a whole host of super exciting activities and attractions for you to get stuck into. Here are some places you can explore on the island to get your adrenaline pumping:

First off, you have to hit all the white sand beaches that surround Nuse Lembongan. Dream Beach for sunbathing, Mushroom Bay for stand-up paddle boarding or kayaking, and Jungut Batu Beach for surfing.

If you want to go scuba diving or snorkelling, go to Jungut Batu Beach or Mushroom Bay and you’ll find many certified dive shops and local guides that offer boat tours to neighbouring islands. You'll be blown away by all the colourful fish swimming around the vibrant coral reefs.

For an enviable photo op, visit the Devil’s Tear, a dramatic cliffside with crashing waves and breathtaking views like no other, this is also a great spot to watch the most incredible sunsets over the ocean.

For a one-of-a-kind experience, take a boat tour through the Mangrove Forest to witness its unique ecosystem up close and spot the most diverse wildlife in their natural habitat. You can also do a jetski tour with SeaDoo Safari Lembongan, guided by professional captains, as they show you scenic sights around the island like the Yellow Bridge, and encounter marine life along the way.

If you want something more peaceful, try a sound bath or a yoga class at the Yoga Shala Lembongan, followed by a nourishing vegan meal at the Playful Table. Al Ponte also serves delicious Italian food and La Kaban has mouthwatering French and Mediterranean cuisine.

If you’re looking for things to do with the kids, a spot of mini golf at The Coconut Hut is perfect for keeping them entertained. You can also learn how to rustle up some Balinese dishes by taking a family cooking class together.

Additionally, you can explore vibrant local markets or simply unwind at the coolest beach clubs around like Sandy Bay Beach Club while enjoying their brunch menu. And when you’re back in your villa, end the day by having a private spa therapist come and give you a wonderful massage treatment to relieve you of your sore muscles from all the fun and adventure.
Nusa Lembongan is a very small island with very narrow roads, so when you’re here, you can forget about Grab, Gojek, or any kind of cars or vans. What you do have here are ‘taxis’ and ‘shuttles’, but not the ones you’re thinking. These are small, open pick-up trucks with bench seating on the rear. There are also golf carts, and these are usually the transportation services that will bring you to your accommodation.

If you want to have transportation of your own, people that come here either rent a scooter, a bicycle, or simply just walk. A scooter is one of the most convenient ways to get around Nusa Lembongan and you can easily rent one from a local rental shop on the island. However, make sure you know how to drive one, have a driver’s license, and wear a helmet at all times.

If you want to go eco-friendly, you can rent a bicycle. It’s a great way to take in the scenic views of the island while exploring the various attractions at a leisurely pace. If you don’t mind some exercise, walking around the island is also doable. But if you plan to go somewhere a bit far, like Devil’s Tear, you should hail a taxi service or coordinate with your villa to hire a shuttle service for you. We highly recommend this for families or big groups, as it will be the most convenient way to explore the Nusa Lembongan.
The best time to travel to Nusa Lembongan in Bali is during the dry season, which typically falls between May and September. During this period, you can expect less rainfall, plenty of sunshine, and lower humidity levels, making it ideal for exploring the island and enjoying outdoor activities. If you're into surfing, visiting during the dry season is also recommended for optimal surfing conditions.
Nusa Lembongan is an island situated just southeast of Bali, Indonesia. It forms part of a trio of islands comprising the Nusa Penida district, of which Nusa Lembongan is considered the most renowned. The three islands - Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan, and Nusa Ceningan - are often referred to collectively as the Nusa Islands.

Nusa Lembongan is closely tied to its fishing heritage and traditional seaweed farming practices. In the past, the island was primarily inhabited by seaweed farmers and fishermen. Over the years, Nusa Lembongan has evolved into a popular tourist destination known for its crystal-clear waters, vibrant marine life, and stunning beaches. The island has seen development in tourism infrastructure, including resorts, restaurants, and water sports facilities, while maintaining its laid-back island charm.

Visitors to Nusa Lembongan can experience a blend of traditional Balinese culture with modern amenities, making it a unique and picturesque destination for travellers seeking a tranquil island getaway.

How long should you stay in Nusa Lembongan?

If you're planning a trip to explore Nusa Lembongan, as well as its neighbour, Nusa Ceningan and Nusa Penida, (I mean might as well – right?) we recommend allocating a minimum of 3-4 full days to properly see everything these tropical gems have to offer. You’ll be able to swim, snorkel, surf, and relax with having a bit of breathing room.

Do you need cash on Nusa Lembongan?

The majority of resorts and restaurants on Nusa Lembongan accept credit cards. However, you'll need cash for things like scooter hire, snorkelling excursions and other day trips on the island. There are several ATMs around Nusa Lembongan but do be aware that they impose daily withdrawal limits. The machines also occasionally go out of order, so it’s best to bring some cash with you from Bali.

Can you walk around Nusa Lembongan?

Yes, of course! Nusa Lembongan is a small island, so small, you can probably walk around it in a couple of hours. If you want to dine out or visit different beaches, you can walk or rent a scooter or bike. Just make sure to watch the roads when you’re crossing the street.

How long is the boat ride from Bali to Nusa Lembongan?

It takes about 30 to 40 minutes, tops. It all depends on the sea and weather conditions on the day – if seas are calm, it will be quick, if it’s a bit choppy, it might take longer and make sure to brace yourselves for the waves, especially if you’re prone to sea sickness. You can take a speedboat from Sanur to Nusa Lembongan, and it’s about 15 kilometres away.
