Central Ubud. The heart of the town has the most restaurants, shops, art markets, and cultural attractions, making it ideal for families who want to be close to the action. However, do note that due to the compactness of the area, most villas here are complexes with only one bedroom. You can easily get to the main attractions and restaurants on foot as the streets are pedestrian-friendly.

Campuhan. This is the perfect destination for anyone looking to unwind in peace, surrounded by Mother Nature's beauty. There are many hiking trails in the area, and it is also home to the renowned Campuhan Ridge Walk. If you choose to stay here, it’s best to rent a private car.

Nyuh Kuning. This charming village is found right outside the busy town of Ubud. Tucked away in rice fields, this place will give you a taste of traditional Balinese living. You’ll meet plenty of friendly locals and pass by temples adorned with offerings. It’s also best to rent a car when staying in this area.

Sayan. Situated along the banks of Ayung River, this area is home to some of Ubud's most lavish resorts and villas. With breathtaking views stretching out across the river valley, Sayan provides the perfect setting for couples seeking a romantic and relaxing getaway.

Tegallalang. This place is renowned for its spectacular rice terraces, making it a must for nature lovers visiting Bali. While it's a fair distance from the busy streets of Ubud, the picturesque scenery more than makes up for the journey.

Why should families stay in an Ubud Villa?

The space and freedom of a villa stay also allow your family to set your own schedule and pace. There are no set meal times or check-out deadlines, giving you and the little ones the flexibility to sleep in, have a leisurely breakfast by the pool, and start exploring the sights whenever you’re ready.

The villas' private chefs and staff can also cater to the specific needs and preferences of your whole family, from your kiddo’s favourite meals to any dietary restrictions you might have. And with separate bedrooms, your children can have their own space while you get to enjoy a respite from the noise and chaos that can come with travelling with little ones. In fact, you can even hire a babysitter during your stay to make things easier for you.

Oh, and you know what else? Staying in a spacious villa means no more tripping over each other's luggage or feeling cramped. And you no longer have to share a pool with strangers, so you and the whole family can play and splash water as much as you like!

And after a day of venturing out to explore vibrant markets, ancient temples, and hidden waterfalls, you get to return to the comfort of your villa, away from all the crowds, and knowing you have everything you need right at your fingertips.

Ubud, Bali, has a rich history that dates back to the 8th century when it was initially a source of medicinal herbs. The name "Ubud" stems from the Balinese word "ubad", meaning medicine - a reference to the abundance of medicinal plants and herbs in the area. Over time, Ubud evolved into a hub for traditional Balinese crafts and arts, attracting artists, writers, and scholars to the region. In the early 20th century, Ubud gained recognition as a cultural center, with the establishment of the Pita Maha artists' cooperative in the 1930s, which played a pivotal role in promoting Balinese art.

During World War II, Ubud faced challenges like many parts of Bali, but it rebounded in the post-war period and continued to flourish as a center for traditional Balinese culture. The royal family of Ubud, the Puri Saren Agung, also known as the Ubud Palace, has been instrumental in preserving the heritage and traditions of the region.

In the late 20th century, Ubud saw a surge in tourism due to its serene environment, lush landscapes, vibrant arts scene, and spiritual attractions. Today, Ubud is not only a popular tourist destination but also a place where visitors can immerse themselves in Balinese culture through traditional dance performances, art galleries, craft villages, and wellness activities like yoga and meditation.
