When you need a break from the luxurious relaxation, there are many activities for families in Bali. Spend days soaking up the sun at Seminyak's beautiful beaches like Double Six Beach or Batu Belig Beach. Or if you’re up for some adventure, take surfing lessons with the whole gang and catch waves at Canggu's renowned surf spots like Echo Beach or Batu Bolong Beach.

Explore the vibrant Tanah Lot sea temple perched on the cliffs with stunning sunset views. Walk along the stone path leading to the temple and take in the panoramic ocean views. As the sun goes down, the temple is at its most beautiful, so make sure to have your cameras ready.

Visit the beautiful Ubud Monkey Forest to meet long-tailed macaques up close. Stroll the well-maintained paths and spot the monkeys lounging in the trees above. You can even feed the monkeys, which your kids will love to do!

For a more thrilling experience, take a tour of the Bali Safari and Marine Park where you can observe elephants, tigers and orangutans in their natural habitat. Venture out on a safari and get up close to an array of animals. The park also features a marine section allowing you to learn about sea life and watch presentations showcasing some creatures from the ocean.

If interacting ethically with wildlife appeals more, visit the Sindu Dwarawati Turtle Conservation Centre. Witness turtle hatchings up close whilst gaining knowledge on how to better protect our environment. Help safeguard sea turtles for future generations! For a more spiritual and rejuvenating experience, visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Tirta Empul holy springs. Take a dip in the holy springs, said to have healing properties – you’ll feel totally refreshed and recharged with some good juju.

Go on a guided tour around the scenic Tegalalang Rice Terraces, a UNESCO World Heritage Site to see the greenest rice paddies you’ll ever see. Then cool off with a refreshing dip at the breathtaking Tegenungan Waterfalls.

Explore a new world under the sea and go snorkelling in the crystal-clear waters of Nusa Penida or Nusa Lembongan, marvelling at the colourful coral reefs and diverse marine life. Or you can head to the north and visit Lovina. Experience a magical dolphin-watching tour at sunrise, witnessing these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat.

Of course, you can’t forget the best part of being on holiday – food! Make sure to try local Balinese cuisine at any of the warungs around Bali. Taste traditional dishes like nasi campur, bebek betutu and lawar. Make sure to leave some room for dessert! Bali has hundreds of yummy cafes lined up on the streets where you can sample some vegan treats.

A family-friendly villa in Bali works the way real families do: different schedules, different needs, all under one roof. Instead of squeezing into connecting hotel rooms and whispering after the kids fall asleep, you get separate bedrooms, a shared living room, and your own pool where noise and naps are totally fine.

You can keep routines without stress. There’s a kitchen for early-morning milk, picky-eater lunches, or simple dinners in pyjamas. Many villas also come with housekeeping, breakfast cooked for you, and staff who genuinely like having kids around.

Safety and comfort are easier to manage too. You know exactly who’s coming in and out, you can keep an eye on the pool and the garden, and there’s space for toys, strollers, and all the “just in case” gear. Add help arranging car seats, babysitters, and kid-friendly activities, and a villa stay quickly feels like the smoothest family holiday you’ve had in years.

Why I love Bali

Bali is one of those places that offers something for everyone — and somehow makes it all feel effortless. You can spend the morning in a private villa surrounded by rice fields, have lunch at a beach café in Seminyak, then catch a fiery sunset from a cliffside temple in Uluwatu. What I love most is the variety of experiences packed into one island. Families find calm in Sanur, couples escape to Ubud or Sidemen for something more soulful, and surfers chase waves from Canggu to Medewi. The accommodations in Bali range from beachfront villas to jungle retreats, many with private pools, outdoor showers, and that blend of luxury and nature that just feels so Bali. You can be as active or as laid-back as you like — take a cooking class, get a massage by the ocean, hike a volcano at sunrise, or do absolutely nothing for days. Bali isn’t just a destination. It’s a feeling, and once you settle into its rhythm, it’s incredibly hard to leave.
