Villas in Sanur with Private Pool for Your Holiday

Sanur is known for its classic Balinese mixture of beautiful rice terraces meeting the ocean, with huge crashing waves and pristine beaches along the southeast coast. They call it "The Morning of the World", which is a fitting name because you get the most stunning sunrises over Bali from Sanur. The town itself is bustling with local markets, and a long beach boardwalk that goes on for 5 kilometres.

Being one of the first beach resort areas in Bali, Sanur has managed to hold onto its cultural heritage and arts. This makes it a great choice for both traditional travellers and more modern types looking for a beach getaway. As you'd expect from a coastal town, there are loads of accommodations, shops and restaurants right on the seafront.

Some of the nicest villas we've seen in Sanur are the traditional Balinese-style ones, located in residential neighbourhoods just next to the beach. All of the villas in Sanur have a private pool for you to enjoy throughout your stay. The neighbouring area of Ketewel up north is much more relaxed and less developed. Most villas there have their own private access to the beach, so you really feel like you’re in your own tropical sanctuary.

At Villa Finder, we’ll help you choose the perfect villa for you and your loved ones, depending on your needs and wants. We understand how overwhelming it can be to plan a trip, especially when it involves many people and different needs to cater to. Just give us a call, and we’ll help you with all the planning, from choosing the right villa to arranging tours around Bali. Don’t worry, we’re here to take care of you.

Most Popular Areas for Villas in Sanur, Bali

Sanur is located up along the east coast of Bali, just north of Nusa Dua and south of Candidasa. It's about a 30-minute to an hour drive from Ngurah Rai airport via toll. When it comes to choosing where to stay, the beach is really the star attraction in Sanur. A lot of the villas and resorts are right in front of the beach or just a short walk away. Some accommodations are located a bit further inland.

For families travelling to Bali, we suggest staying in Sanur Beach itself. This is always a popular choice for those looking to get lots of beach time. Many villas here have direct beach access or are a few steps away from the sand. Nothing beats waking up to the sound of waves and seeing the most beautiful sunrise in Bali.

If you’re looking for convenience, Jalan Danau Tamblingan, the main street of Sanur, is also a great choice to make as your holiday base. This bustling street is lined with restaurants, cafes, shops, and accommodations. It’s also still close to the beach, so staying here would give you easy access to both modern conveniences and the gorgeous waters of Sanur Beach.

For those of you looking to truly escape everything, Mertasari Beach is the place to go. Located at the southern end of the 5km boardwalk of Sanur Beach, you’ll find this quiet yet charming spot with white sands and blue waters. Kite surfing is popular on this beach, and you’ll also find a few eateries along the shore. You’ll find more locals and fewer tourists in this area, so it will definitely be more peaceful compared to other beaches.

Adventure-seekers will prefer to stay near Padang Galak Beach on the northern end of Sanur. If someone in your family or group is really big into surfing or kitesurfing, the waves on this beach are truly amazing. They also host a Kite Festival every July, which is quite a spectacle to see.

For a taste of local culture and traditional Balinese life, staying in Sanur Village provides an authentic experience. You can explore local markets, and temples, and interact with the friendly locals. You’ll get to feel what the real Bali is like, outside of all the tourist traps.

Why should families stay in a Sanur Villa?

There are several good reasons why you should stay in a private villa instead of a hotel during your family holiday in Bali. And no, we’re not just being biased. After you’ve read this section, we’re sure we’ll have your head nodding.

First off, the privacy is wonderful - you'll have the entire villa all to yourselves with no shared facilities. This means the kids are free to run around and play in the garden or pool area without disturbing anyone. You also won’t have any awkward run-ins with other guests at the lobby or lift.

Second, the space is perfect. The kids will have their own bedroom, and you and your partner can relax in yours. It's like being back at home with separate living and dining areas. Everyone has the space to relax how they want. Say goodbye to tripping over luggage in cramped-up hotel rooms.

Third, the freedom is amazing. You can come and go as you please and there’s no need to dress all proper when going down to get breakfast. You can even sleep in as long as you like because you can just make your own breakfast in the kitchen. Or you can hire a private chef to make a delicious meal for you. You can use the pool whenever you like – if you fancy some night swimming, then by all means, no one will stop you.

And last, the flexibility is brilliant. Tell our concierge team what you need, and we'll take care of it. Need a night off? We can arrange a babysitter. Want tours arranged? We’ll find you a tour guide and a private car with a chauffer. Is it someone's birthday? We'll decorate the villa and even put together some goodie bags. Fancy a massage in the comforts of your own room? We’ll send a masseuse to you. Whatever you require, we’ll do our best to make your holiday stress-free.

Why We Love to Stay in Sanur

sanur beach

If you’re thinking about your next getaway with family, friends, or that special someone, then we highly suggest you consider staying in Sanur. Sanur has a laidback vibe, making it the perfect spot for holidaymakers seeking a relaxing vacation without sacrificing excitement. What we love the most about Sanur is its calm, clean waters and serene beaches – ideal for any water babies looking to live out their island dreams. The 5km beachfront boardwalk is also the perfect place to go on leisurely bike rides with the kids, offering breathtaking views and countless cozy cafes for a pit stop.

But don’t be fooled by its relaxed vibe; Sanur is brimming with activities, too! The area is a haven for water enthusiasts, offering everything from snorkeling and kite surfing to stand-up paddleboarding. The real star of the show, however, and why so many travellers come to Sanur, is the Sindu Dwarawati Turtle Conservation Centre, where you have the opportunity to witness turtle hatching firsthand. I mean, how cool is that?!

From casual beachfront bars to culinary gems serving up gourmet meals, every palate is sure to be satisfied. For those who are keen on retail therapy, you can hit the local markets like Sindu Market to scoop up unique Balinese crafts and souvenirs. Plus, if your timing is right, you might even catch the vibrant Bali Kite Festival—a visual feast where you’ll see the sky filled with colorful kites. Sure enough, you will definitely love staying in Sanur as much as we do!

So you're thinking of a family holiday, and you're considering Sanur in Bali? Well, let me tell you, Sanur is an absolutely brilliant spot for families. Many families with little kids who have been here prefer it much better to other areas on the island.

Traffic is so much lighter in Sanur so it's really easy to get around when you have the kiddos in tow. While Sanur still has a bustling vibe, it's nothing compared to somewhere like Kuta – here, you can really relax! Food and drinks are readily available everywhere, taxis are plentiful, and it's super simple to book a massage. If you need to go further afield, the traffic won't hold you up too much either compared to busier areas like Kuta and Seminyak.

The 5km beach path is perfect for cycling with kids. You'll be spoilt for choice with restaurants along the seafront. Shopping is good too, there are plenty of cool knick-knacks you can find here that are easy on the pocket. There are water sports such as surfing and kite surfing on offer if you fancy something more active. You can even go snorkelling right on Sanur Beach.

The beach also has lovely big trees providing plenty of shade, so the young ones can play safely without getting sunburnt. It's very calm and protected, making it ideal for small children. In fact, Sanur Beach is way more suitable if you have babies or toddlers. The water is much calmer and cleaner too. Once you experience it yourself, you'll be converted to Sanur for family holidays!
Sanur is known for its beautiful white sand beaches and long boardwalk. So naturally, when you’re in Sanur, you can’t miss out on Sanur Beach and the adjacent beaches next to it like Sindhu and Cemara Beach. All the beaches in Sanur are lovely for relaxing with the little ones. Nice and calm waters in most areas, so the kids can splash about and build sandcastles all day long.

For something a bit more exciting, Bali Safari and Marine Park is only a 35-minute drive away. Get up close to all sorts of animals like elephants, tigers and orangutans on their safari. They've also got a marine section where you can learn about sea life and see shows with the animals.

If you want a more ethical interaction with animals, you can check out Sindu Dwarawati Turtle Conservation Centre and experience the magic of turtle hatching first-hand while learning about how to better care for our environment. Save the turtles!

History and art buffs will enjoy Le Mayeur Museum. Learn about the artist chap Adrien Jean Le Mayeur who lived there and see his paintings. It will give you an idea of what life was like for him on the island back in the day.

If you fancy getting active, loads of watersports are on offer too. Good fun for all like snorkelling, stand-up paddle boarding and kayaking along the coast. A perfect way to burn off some energy for the little rascals so they stay sound asleep all night.

How about walking along the seabed without getting your hair wet? Bali Seawalker lets you do just that and see marine life up close. No diving skills are needed which is handy with the kiddies in tow.

All being well with timing, you might catch the Bali Kite Festival while you're there. Colourful kites fill the sky during the month of July, and your little ones will love spotting the different designs. It’s a lovely festive atmosphere too.

Lastly, a browse around the local markets like Sindu Market or Baruna Beach Market is a must. There are many stalls selling special Balinese crafts, clothing and tasty local grub - buy a souvenir or two to remember your wonderful time in Bali.
When getting around Sanur, Bali, especially with kids, there are several convenient transportation options to consider:

Renting a Car or Motorbike. Renting a car or motorbike can provide flexibility and convenience for families to explore Sanur at their own pace. Make sure to prioritize safety by wearing helmets if riding a motorbike.

Hiring a Private Driver. Opting for a private driver is a comfortable way to navigate Sanur with kids. Drivers are familiar with the area and can provide valuable insights into local attractions. If you need help in arranging one, we can do it for you. Our drivers know Bali like the back of their hand!

Using Ride-Hailing Services. Utilizing ride-hailing services like Grab or Gojek, and local taxi services can be a hassle-free way to travel around Sanur, especially when visiting family-friendly attractions or heading to the beach.

Cycling or Walking. Sanur is known for its pedestrian-friendly streets and cycling paths. Renting bicycles or simply walking around can be a great way to soak in the local atmosphere while exploring the area with kids.
Sanur is located quite far south in Bali at eight degrees from the equator. This means it has a lovely consistent climate all year round of around 27°C. During the monsoon season from October to March, it does get a bit damp though, with plenty of rain, wind and humidity.

The best time to visit would be in the dry season from April through to October to avoid the monsoons. You'll also want to steer clear of the major tourist seasons in the middle of the year and around Christmas/New Year when it's absolutely jam-packed with visitors.

Be wary too of Idul Fitry, which is their Eid al-Fitri celebration around May and June. Prices go through the roof for accommodation and places can get booked up for weeks ahead of time.

Just near Sanur you'll find the island of Pulau Serangan, best known as a turtle nesting spot. From June through October, the sea turtles come ashore to lay their eggs primarily. The Turtle Conservation centre there is a lovely place to learn about the turtles and even help release some babies back if you happen to visit during hatching season.
Sanur, Bali, is a coastal stretch of beach located on the southeast side of the island. It has a rich history dating back to ancient times when it was a traditional fishing village. Over the years, Sanur has transformed into a popular destination known for its stunning beaches, clear waters, and vibrant coral reefs.

One significant historical event in Sanur's history is the landing of the Dutch in 1906 during their military intervention in Bali. This event marked the beginning of Dutch colonization on the island. Despite this colonial influence, Sanur has managed to preserve its cultural heritage and charm, making it a unique blend of traditional Balinese culture and modern tourism.

Today, Sanur is renowned for its laid-back atmosphere, water sports activities, and beautiful sunrise views. The area boasts a range of accommodations, restaurants, and a variety of shops offering handicrafts and souvenirs. Whether you're interested in exploring historical sites, relaxing on the beach, or trying out water sports, Sanur offers something for every type of traveler.

Is Sanur, Bali worth visiting?

Yes! Especially if you’re travelling with little ones. While some may dismiss it as "Sleepy Sanur", those in the know find an unspoilt slice of paradise away from the clubs of Kuta and fancy hotels of Nusa Dua. Sanur’s beaches are much cleaner and have clearer and gentler waters that are perfect for swimming and snorkelling. And Sanur’s sunrise views are one of the most beautiful sights you’ll see. You have to see it at least once during your trip! There’s also great surf and lots of delicious restaurants and cafes in the area. If you’re a certified beach bum, then Sanur is the spot for your next holiday.

How many days in Sanur is enough?

If watersports are your thing, you could easily spend a whole week snorkelling, diving and catching some waves. The wet season between November and April is primetime for surf - the swell will be up for sure.

Sanur also makes a top base for checking out other areas of Bali. Places like Ubud are just up the road if you fancy a change of scene. But if relaxing on the beach is your idea of heaven, you won't find a better place for it. The sun, sand and sea will work their magic for as long as you need - the days will just melt away.

Can you swim in Sanur Beach?

Yes! The waters are cleaner and calmer compared to beaches in Kuta and Seminyak. Thanks to an offshore reef serving as a barrier for the waves, the beach makes it a great place for swimming or trying out snorkelling. And because Sanur Beach has fewer tourists, you won't have to battle for sun loungers if you want to chill by the sand.

Which is better, Seminyak or Sanur?

Both are wonderful places to make your home base while in Bali. However, it really depends on the type of holiday you have in mind. Sanur is a popular destination for families and couples seeking a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere. The laidback pace in Sanur is great for lazy beach days and watersports.

Meanwhile, Seminyak attracts a generally younger crowd with its lively nightlife scene, upmarket accommodation and restaurants. If you’re vacationing with friends and want to experience the vibrant nightlife in Bali, Seminyak is the more suitable option.
