Villa Kabutera is a beautiful 2-bedroom retreat built with natural architecture and recycled woods such as teak, acacia and iron wood. The villa is located in the far south, close to Bali's most stunning beaches and the famous Uluwatu temple. This is the perfect place for a small family or two couples. Villa Kabutera is part of a 5-villa complex, separated by lovely garden walks. Each villa has their own entrance but the villa can also be rented out as a whole in case of special events like weddings or other celebrations.
This villa features two spacious bedrooms with an identical interior design and a shared veranda with beautiful wooden traditional arts and a stone-carved wall. Inside the rooms look stylish and bright with it's marmer floor and white walls. All guest amenities soaps and hair-dryers are provided. This rooms have extra doors connecting them from the inside, great for parents with children.
Walk through the beautiful Balinese gate and over the stone path with lotus ponds to find yourself in the luscious green garden of Villa Kabutera. The garden lies between the villa's two pavilions and it features tropical trees, plants, colorful flowers and and in the middle a grass lawn and the swimming-pool with two white sunbeds on the veranda, perfect to completely relax and catch a tan. After a dive in the swimming-pool you can freshen up underneath the out-door rain-shower.
The living area, open to the garden, features a beautifully made alang-alang roof and marmer floor. On the right, with view on the garden, you will find a comfortable soft light-brown colored sofa with a wooden coffee-table and a flat-screen television. There is a thick wooden dining-table big enough to accommodate 8 persons to enjoy a delicious meal together. All the way on the left you will find the open modern kitchen built with wooden and stone material and it is fully equipped with everything you need including a large fridge and an oven. Crockery, cutlery, towels and linens are top quality. This area also features a storage room and a guest toilet with washbasin and an extra door to the garden.
Villa Kabutera has friendly, good English speaking staff who will make sure everything is suited to your wishes and needs. Some of the staff stays in a building across the road from the villa complex so they are reachable at any time if necessary.
Villa Kabutera is tucked away in the south of Bali, close to the Uluwatu temple, Jimbaran where you can eat the best seafood on the island and lots of beautiful famous beaches with crystal clear waters and world class surf spots. The busy center of Kuta/Legian and Seminyak are just a 30 minute drive away, and the international airport even less.
We made a last minute booking the day before check-in. When we arrived at Villa Kabutera, we were warmly welcomed by Frederic and the other members of his staff. A magnificent Balinese villa with all the comforts to feel at home and the private pool. Everything is carefully planned by Frederic and his wife Vivi so that the stay is more pleasant: Recommendations of excursions, beach, restaurant, deliveries at home ... Frederic recommended the services of a driver who made us discover different extraordinary places in Bali, this young man is named Moh and he is incredibly kind. A very good breakfast prepared by a very kind lady every morning! The day before we left without asking for anything, Vivi had called us a cab for our early flight in the morning. In short, an absolutely perfect experience in every aspect and a stay that will remain unforgettable !!
The villa was beautiful, just as shown in the photo. Fred and Vivi (owners of the villa) were excellent hosts, recommending some good restaurants and beaches to us as well as helping to arrange a massage to be done in the villa itself. There is a 24-hour Pit Stop restaurant selling sandwiches and a minimart just opposite the villa. There is a motorbike rental called Arjuna rentals beside the villa. Good restaurants are about 10-15 mins away by motorbike. I would highly recommend the Rolling Fork restaurant that has excellent home-made pasta. Also check out Bingin Beach viewpoint and the beach itself for a rustic feel. There is a Cashew Tree restaurant there that serves healthy and tasty food. If you like middle eastern food, check out El-Merkat which is less than 5 mins away by motorbike from the villa. Spanish clifftop beach club El-Kabron offers a spectacular view. Padang-Padang beach and Dreamland beach are also nearby (abt 15 mins by motorbike). There is a coffee plantation near the villa. Check out the Kopi Luwak! There are some local restaurants eg: Warung Made that do food delivery to the villa. The fried chicken with Bali bumbu sauce is delicious! If you’re afraid of frog/toads, please note that you might see a few in the bathroom. Depends on how you look at it, it adds to the experience of living in the midst of nature. Mosquito repellents are a must. I would suggest that the cleaning crew should come into the villa when the guests have gone out for the day to minimise privacy invasion. Breakfast is average but good enough to start your day (omelette on toasts). Dewi makes a decent omelette so kudos to her. There’s is a fully-equipped kitchen, hence, you can go to El-merkat mart to buy good quality ham, bacon etc to cook in the villa if necessary. There is a water dispenser in the villa so drinking water is readily available. It would be good to provide 2 umbrellas in case of rain. One at the living room room area and one at the bedroom area as there is no shelter between the 2 areas. Overall, we had a lovely stay and would recommend this villa to our family/ friends as Uluwatu is a nice place with a more laid-back charm compared to busy Kuta. Do note that the roads have no pavements as this region is not as developed as neighbouring Kuta. Please allow yourself 2 hours to get to the airport in the evening peak period due to an insane traffic gridlock. There is a decent private taxi service available directly opposite the villa. The usual journey with no traffic jam is only about 30 mins.
