If holidaying in South Bali is too mainstream for you, why not consider Villa Tangguntiti? Villa Tangguntiti a beautiful blend of classic and contemporary Balinese architecture, set along the west coast of the island between Tabanan and Balian. Visiting the five bedroomed Villa Tangguntiti is akin to immersing yourself in an untouched world, one where time has paused to reflect only the traditional Balinese villages, the rice fields and the rolling countryside.
The views from Villa Tangguntiti are also splendid, with lush, green irrigated fields all around and magnificent, westward facing sunsets every evening. Guests can even catch a glimpse of the sea and the Batukaru volcano from the garden on a clear day. Comprised of a main living pavilion and four separate Javanese teak houses, a stay at Villa Tangguntiti guarantees privacy and secluded sleeping quarters for every couple or guest.
Each bedroom at Villa Tangguntiti is fit for royalty, featuring four 2x2 meter king-size beds and one 1.6x2 meter queen-size bed amidst wooden interiors and dreamy mixtures of cream, red and turquoise colors. Working desks, mini bars and 36 inch flat screen TVs come in all five bedrooms, as do outdoor, en-suite bathrooms with showers or jacuzzi tubs.
By day, make the 20 meter pool and deck your own paradisiacal oasis. Sun mattresses underneath Balinese umbrellas line the pool's edge, while a open-sided teak wood balé stands in at the end of the water. Across the pool from the main living pavilion are specialized spa room, complete with two massage tables, but the masseuse will be additional fee.
The living room overlooking the endless rice fields is surely the major draw of Tangguntiti. With a surface of over 200 square meters, the communal area rests in a teak wood Joglo which is completely open to the tropical elements. Boasting a wide eight seater sofa, antique arm chairs and a French billiards table, this room is the best spot in the house to hang out and enjoy one another's company.
No matter the time of day you can set the mood by putting on your own tunes over the living room's sound and speaker system. Next to the sofa lounge is a dining table which can accommodate up to 14 people for large feasts and parties. A fully-equipped kitchen and bar also are present, boasting a refrigerator and state of the art espresso machine so you can enjoy a freshly made cappuccino in the comfort of your bedroom balcony.
The attentive nature of the staff at Villa Tangguntiti demonstrate the warmth of Balinese hospitality, always helpful yet discreet and unassuming when you wish. The staff will be delighted to assist guests in arranging activities and day trips, from luxurious spa treatments, to fishing, rafting or trekking in the nearby mountains. Villa Tangguntiti aims to provide an appreciation for Balinese traditional culture, coupled with modern elegance, amenities and comfort.
10/10I stayed at Villa Tangguntiti with my colleagues in July. Despite of the cloudy weather and drizzle on the day we've arrived at the villa, charm of Villa Tangguntiti can not be hidden. Once I step in from the entrance door, I can clearly see the huge living room, beautiful swimming pool and the stunning view of the rice fields. I'd love to laid on the sofa and see the carved teak ceiling, very artistic! Lunch and dinner are super! Tasty food by Manuel and the team. Manuel even took us for a ride to the beach with an off-road car. Excited! On our last day in the villa, the weather is better and we managed to see the ocean on a distance from the living room. Thank you for the awesome weekend!
9.6/10We stayed 2 families, with children from 10 to 22 years old, and a grandmother, for 10 days at Tangguntiti for 8 days during Xmas 2014 and I wanted to say that we had a fantastic time. The Villa includes in fact no less than 4 separate villas, so each group can have their privacy, plus a huge Bale-like living room where guests can gather for aperitif, meals, billiard and lounging together. Staff is more than sufficient (12...), accommodating, simple yet sophisticated, friendly yet well trained. Food is of high standard (owner and General Manager are French, which helps, but that doesn't always ensure fantastic food). You can decide your own meals every day, alternating Western or Indonesian flavours, all refined and tasty. 2 Cars with drivers are available so you can drive around anywhere, but rapidly you feel like avoiding the Southern traffic jam and you stay "home", watching the rice-fields and enjoying the 20 metres pool. I really had to scratch my head to find negative things to say: The location is over 2 hours from the airport/Kuta/Seminiyak so if you want to go out every night this is not the place. In 1 villa the air conditioner stopped working, but they fixed it in a day. The internet was not working on day 1 but that was fixed in 2 days. That's all. Not bad for 8 days in a high end tropical resort, Aman might not have fared better. I almost did not want to post these comments, so as to keep this jewel potentially for myself in future, but it would just have been too unfair, so here it is: Best accommodation I have ever rented in Bali. Enjoy. Thierry Neveux, 25 years in Asia.
