Asmara means “love” in Sanskrit and Villa Asmara is clearly a well-loved home with a lot of heart. This four bedroom villa is set in an enchanting rural sanctuary overlooking the rice fields and rugged shores of the sleepy village of Cemagi. Featuring an open-sided lounge and dining room, large swimming pool, games room and media room, this fully staffed villa is the ideal choice for families and friends craving peace and privacy.
All four bedrooms at Villa Asmara have air-conditioning and are tastefully decorated with Javanese antiques. Upstairs in the main pavilion, the villa’s first master suite is furnished with a queen-size bed and enjoys beautiful rice-terrace views from the jacuzzi bath in its ensuite bathroom. The second master suite is located in a stand-alone pavilion with a king-size bed and glass sliding doors that open to a veranda overlooking the pool. The impressive ensuite bathroom features twin basins, walk-in shower and its own private garden, complete with alfresco shower for those wishing to bathe beneath the stars. Two other guestrooms on the ground floor feature four-poster king-size beds and glass sliding doors open onto a veranda overlooking the pool. The semi-outdoor bathrooms with walk-in showers enclosed within small gardens.
At the heart of the villa is the 12-metre green-stone swimming pool with the large Buddha-head statue contemplating the immaculately manicured lawns surrounding it. After a game of tennis on the villa’s shared court, go for a refreshing swim and grab one of the sun loungers and enjoy Villa Asmara’s peace and tranquillity. Fragrant frangipanis and swaying palm trees frame the garden amongst a sea of luscious green foliage to create a stunning and private oasis.
The villa is spread over four separate pavilions. The large open-plan living area will keep guests cool and comfortable. Relax on the large L-shaped sofa or on the antique Javanese daybed before enjoying a home cooked meal prepared by the chef on the eight-seater solid teak dining table. For those who wish to cater for themselves, the kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances, black granite worktops and a four-seater marble dining table for casual dining. On the second floor, above the lounge, is the games room, where you can enjoy a game of billiard while admiring the views of the pool, ocean, rice fields and mountains. A small glass-top table with four chairs is the perfect spot for early morning rice-view coffee. On the third floor, you will reach the air-conditioned media room complete with Bose sound system, huge plasma-screen satellite TV, DVD player and a delightfully cosy balcony with tree-skimming views.
A team of dedicated and friendly staff will look after you during your stay at Villa Asmara. From poolside cocktails to five-course dinners served by your very own villa attendants, all you need to do is lie back and relax.
Just beyond the villa walls lie promises of bike rides through the rice paddies to meet village folk and perhaps participate in their ceremonies, or strolls along the glistening black sands of Mengening beach in the glow of a glorious Bali sunset. Despite its rural setting, the villa is only 30 minutes’ drive from the many restaurants and shops of cosmopolitan Seminyak.
