Fly with KLM

KLM and Villa-Bali.com

I just came back from a trip to Bali and flew with KLM. I had a really good time on my whole trip, and all started with the Royal Dutch Airline KLM. Since there are always things to consider and prepare when travelling and flying out of a country, I thought it might be useful to have a schedule what to do and how to get to to the airport in the easiest way.

KLM is one of the major airlines which are flying to Bali from Singapore. The aircraft is always the Boeing 777-300 and KLM always departs from terminal 1. These facts just shortly mentioned. But here is the whole procedure step by step.

– First of all the check-in: KLM reminds you about 24 hours before your departure, via email, that you are able to do an online check in now. So just go to www.klm.com and go to the online check-in section. There you have to type in your identification and flight number. Afterwards, all your details are listed, you are checked in and can now choose if you want to print the document, send it via email or pick it up at the airport. Really simple and timesaving.

– KLM always departs Singapore from terminal 1 and therefore make sure to get to this terminal. If you arrive at the airport by MRT, which is an easy and cheap way for Singaporeans, you should arrive on time, since you have to take the skytrain at the airport to get from terminal 2, where you will arrive by MRT, to terminal 1. If you arrive by taxi, let the taxi driver drop you off at the beginning of terminal 1, so on the leftmost side of the terminal, since the KLM check-in counter is located there.

– On the airport proceed to the check-in counter if you have any baggage to check in, otherwise just go to the departure hall and the gates.

– After all this check in procedure, you are finally on the plane and can enjoy a pleasant service and staff. A hot tissue, earphones, meal/s and drinks are included and the media entertainment is really good. You can choose between the latest movies, special ones and Dutch ones, as well as between series or furthermore can just decide to listen to good music or play some games on your very own screen. Therefore a pleasant flight is ensured.

– For Bali, it is necessary to have a visa, but no worries, you don’t have to apply for one in advance. It’s really simple, but make sure not to forget about it. When you arrive on the airport in Bali, you go to the right and have to pay a ‘visa on arrival fee’ which is USD 25, make sure you changed your money into USD before your flight. Then you proceed to the visa counter and show your receipt of the payment. Then you get your visa and are allowed to get into Bali. For the departure of Bali, it is important to know, that you have to pay a ‘leaving visa fee’ of 150000 IDR. So don’t spend all your money, but save these 150000 IDR.

A very nice and special feature of the airport in Bali is, that it is almost directly on the beach. The landing strip of the airport almost seems like a jetty for boats where you can walk on. You can see planes starting an arriving, from the northern beaches like Kuta, Legian and Seminyak as well as from the southern beach in Jimbaran. The planes are flying really close, but the noise it not annoying at all since you almost cannot hear them.

Hopefully, this was useful and you won’t have any inconveniences and have a safe flight.
