The most stunning attraction in Lombok, Mount Rinjani has become the reason why Bali and Lombok airports are closed.
It had a small explosive eruption on October 25 and the ashes have been blowing together Denpasar airport due to wind directions. For safety reasons, Bali has closed the airport and it will remain closed till tomorrow (Thursday, Nov 5) which has resulted in the cancellation of nearly 700 flights. Other than how the ashes affect visibility, more importantly, the main reason why airlines decided to delay/cancel the flights are due to the possibility of volcanic ashes damaging the jet engines.
