Villa Samaki is a utterly peaceful holiday retreat perched on the edge of a river valley, surrounding you with nothing but untouched nature yet it is just a short drive to the centre of cultural Ubud. The traditional teak wooden pavilion features a minimalistic, elegant interior design and full length glass doors, giving a great sense of openness and stillness. This combined with 3 luxurious bedrooms create an amazing holiday home on the mystical island of the Gods.
The air-conditioned master suite is tucked away in a private stand-alone bungalow. The view from the balcony is just amazing and utterly peaceful. Inside the room is furnished with a stunning canopied king-size bed for a perfect night sleep and a TV with DVD-player for entertainment. The dressing-room features 2 large wardrobe closets and the en-suite bathrooms boasts a large bathtub next to a window overlooking the tropical valley, giving you a unique bathing experience. There are dual washbasins with bathroom amenities and not only an indoors but also an outdoor shower.
The 2 air-conditioned guest bedrooms are found in the back of the living pavilion. Both the rooms have a serene and natural ambiance with a hard-wooden floor and a matching wooden interior design beneath the high traditional roof. There are canopied double beds, antique closets and each room has a private en-suite bathroom boasting a terrazzo bathtub and a relaxing rain-shower.
The garden is spread out over several layers of tropical land, just like the authentic Balinese rice-paddies. There is the stunning infinity pool surrounded by comfy sun-loungers and there is an alang-alang roofed alfresco dining baléperched on the edge of the river gorge. Walking down the valley, leads past a gazebo with 2 massage beds, for ultimate relaxation with nothing but the sounds of nature in the background.
The traditional living pavilion has a beautiful hard-wooden floor and a high soaring alang-alang roof that functions as a natural air-conditioner while the full length glass doors, sliding open to 3 sides of the pavilion, give you a breathtaking view over the river valley and the infinity pool. The interior design is simple chic featuring hand-carved antique wooden furniture and traditional artwork. There is a stunning ornamented day-bed cushioned with turquoise pillows and a traditional Balinese sofa surrounding a coffee table, creating a nice place to relax with a book or just sit and enjoy the view. There is also a working desk with a music player, a teak wooden dining-table for lovely family dinners and a compact, fully equipped kitchen. Following the circular wooden stairs from the living, leads to a charming loft-style mezzanine, boasting a home theater with a large flat-screen TV and surround-sound speakers.
The staff consists of 4 attentive people, welcoming you with warm Balinese hospitality. There is butler service, daily housekeeping and security in the night.
The location is just perfect, tucked away in a quiet traditional Balinese village surrounded by untouched nature. The centre of Ubud is very nearby offering great possibilities for exploring the Monkey Forest, cycling through the rice-fields, following art classes, practising yoga and eating healthy organic food at one of the charming cafés.
6.8/10I don’t want to be harsh because wayan Sri was absolutely adorable and so helpful, but I felt that the villa could have been cleaner, particularly the kitchen and bathrooms. None of the hairdryers worked , which didn’t bother me but it did my friend . And I also thought for the price we paid it should have included transport to and from town. I have stayed in cheaper villas in the same area where that is included. I really just think the villa is over priced for Bali and it’s not passed on to the people that work there. I would not go back regardless of how much I liked wayan Sri.
9.8/10The Villa is a bit outside Ubud but in a very quiet area.. overlooking the forest and valley.. The villa is perfect, wooden floor, very well maintained.. Really nice decoration.. But the #1 plus is the villa manager.. Wayan.. She is so kind and so attention-ate to details... One of the BEST villas I rented in Bali.
