Canggu villas near the beach

The coastal town of Canggu draws in an eclectic mix of travellers and expatriates - from surfing enthusiasts and beach lovers, to avid yogis, digital nomads and a hipster crowd.

That’s because the town does indeed offer something for everyone: its glittering black sand beaches offer world-class surf, there’s a thriving healthy cafe scene, one gets easy access to beautifully designed open-air yoga studios and bohemian hangouts and street art are sprinkled across the town. It’s a great place to be if you’re looking to be near the beach while having easy access to the rice fields, restaurants and local amenities.

Your Canggu villa is a short ride away from the beach. Nestled away amidst the rice fields, your villa looks out to extensive rice paddies and lush foliage. A sprawling garden, complete with a private pool, loungers and gazebos stretches out around the villa.

Each of the living spaces is finely appointed, with tropical-style indoor-outdoor designs, a mix of traditional Balinese and contemporary design elements and modern amenities. The warm hospitality of the on-site staff will make you feel at home right away, and your villa manager will readily attend to your vacation needs.

The beaches of Batu Bolong and Echo are popular attractions that draw in a mix of locals and expatriates. The sunset views are spectacular, there’s excellent surf and a good variety of beachfront venues are dotted along the coast. Pererenan Beach, Seseh Beach and Berawa Beach offer a more laid back ambience with fewer beach-goers and dining establishments. These coasts are ideal for a relaxed beach stroll or a surf - but do note that the strong waves and undercurrents here makes it unsuitable for beginner surfers.

Starting the day with a healthy breakfast is the way of life here. That’s expected, given the town’s myriad green juice bars and organic cafes, as well as its clean-living culture. There’s Crate Cafe, a Bondi-inspired venue with breakfast items like acai bowls, green smoothies and peas, pesto and avocado on toast. Other places serving up similarly wholesome fare include Motion Cafe and Machinery Cafe.

Other than breezy, relaxed cafes, Canggu also features fine dining establishments, beach clubs, seafood restaurants and more.

We recommend dining out at the atmospheric Wantilan Agung, the bohemian La Laguna and stylish Finns Beach Club. Aravina Restaurant is a great place to dine with young children, thanks to kid-friendly amenities like a pool, air-conditioned chill out room and a Tiny Tots Club. Lacalita Bar Y Cocina dishes out Mexican fare along with an exotic Jalapeño-infused tequila, and Japanese fusion cuisine is best enjoyed at Musubi Modern Japanese Kitchen.

A Bali vacation is all about rest and relaxation. Unwind at luxury spa parlours like Spring Spa Canggu and Body Temple Spa, and take your pick from a varied spa menu featuring triple oxygen facials, aromatherapy rituals and deep tissue massages. Desa Seni’s School of Yoga and Samadi Yoga offer a variety of yoga classes, and are suitable for beginners to advanced practitioners looking to stretch out on a mat. Your villa manager will readily assist with arranging one-to-one yoga classes or spa treatments in your villa.
