Villa Asli is a vacation compound that’s comprised of about nine pavilions – all representing traditional Balinese architecture especially with the distinctive Joglo roofs as the main structural detail. Interiors – of mostly earthy hues and tones – are appointed with luxurious and elaborate antiquated furnishings, as well as embellished with traditional figures, wood carvings as well as tribal art pieces. Amenities, in contrast, are top-of-the-line – for utmost guest satisfaction. Laid out at the heart of Canggu’s famed rice terraces, Villa Asli offers you a mix of rich and heirloom as well as contemporary and cosmopolitan comfort in a quaint and serene environment.
The villa has five bedrooms – each in an individual pavilion set on a pond. All bedrooms have king-sized beds as well as dedicated, semi-open bathrooms with bathtubs of natural stone and outdoor rain showers. All bedrooms also open out to fully furnished covered terraces.
At the center of the expansive garden’s well-kept lawn and ponds is the 25-meter swimming pool. Dive into its welcoming, glassy waters for routine laps, some unmindful wading or some splashy play. For a breather, you can lounge on wide and cushioned pool beds on the lawn around the pool.
At the breezy, semi-open, high-ceilinged main pavilion is the living area with its hefty and cushioned woven wood couches and chairs. Here, you can all converge for moments of family or friendly bonding. At another pavilion on one side of the main pavilion is the dining area. On its long, wooden table good for eight, you can all feast on authentic Balinese specialties – as well as foreign fare – meticulously put together by the resident chef at the fully-equipped, modern kitchen in a detached pavilion behind the dining pavilion. On both ends of the swimming pool are massage bales where you can ease aching muscles with a traditional Balinese massage as well as indulge in various deeply relaxing spa treatments.
On duty to deliver the daily services of the villa is a staff made up of a personal guest assistant, a chef, a pool attendant, a gardener as well as housekeepers and security personnel. Upon your request, a babysitter, a driver, a laundry helper and a spa therapist may be called in. However, their services will be charged separately. Scooter and car rentals are also available.
Villa Asli is based in Canggu. From the villa, Seminyak – Bali’s bustling beach town – is just a 10-minute drive away. Make your way to the Oberoi District’s Eat Street – famous among foodies for its casual to fine dining restaurants. Must-try places are La Lucciola, Mamasan, Metis, Sardine and Sarong. Meander around and you’ll discover malls, fashion boutiques, novelty shops and souvenir stores. You will, eventually, end up at Seminyak Beach. Find a spot at one of the cozy beach cafes and chill out until dusk. Once the night comes to life, delight your senses at hip bars and clubs like Potato Head and Ku De Ta.
9.2/10Villa Asli was absolutely beautiful and service and food from sukhmar and her staff excellent. We never wanted for anything. The villas were magnificent as well as the shared living areas. We all loved it. The only catch was the difficulty of walking to the beach due to nearly construction and the traffic on the roads and motor scooters on narrow or non existent footpaths. But it only made it more attractive to stay in the compound.
