I Gusti Ngurah Rai was a Lieutenant Colonel in charge of the Indonesian forces to counter the Dutch offensive in 1946. He worked hard to gather the scattered Indonesian forces, and when the Dutch ordered a major attack, I Gusti Ngurah Rai commanded his soldiers to fight to the death. Along with all his troops, I Gusti Ngurah Rai died in that battle.
