A beautiful location amidst traditional Balinese rice fields of Canggu, Villa East Indies, originally meant as a private home, is a sprawling luxury retreat with five spacious and well-furnished bedrooms. With the calm and serenity offered by the surrounding regions emulated in the rustic and antique décor of the villa, it is a beautiful and magical place for a tropical adventure with your family and friends. The lush green gardens and the lavish swimming pool are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the opulence of Villa East Indies.
The master bedroom at Villa East Indies is a definite sight to behold with its queen-sized canopied bed right in the middle of the room. The gorgeously furnished bedroom is straight out a of a magazine catalogue for an antique and traditionally-styled space with old-school wooden writing desk and chair, wooden cabinet, windows overlooking the gardens and the massive space. The en-suite bathroom is another luxurious space with a tropical rain-shower and foliage enveloping it.
The four bedrooms at the villa are furnished with queen-sized canopied beds and some are located on the upper floor offering a brilliant view of the rice fields. Each room has chairs and armchairs along with a wooden bookshelf from which you can pick whatever you want a have a good read. The en-suite bathrooms for each of the rooms are replicas of a tropical rain-forest, with foliage and an outdoor shower area.
A gorgeous well-manicured lawn surrounds the 23-m swimming pool nestled in-between abundant plants and trees. The pool area is a comforting and inviting spot, where you can relax on the sun-loungers and enjoy the tranquillity that comes only with a private villa like Villa East Indies. With nothing to hinder the quiet atmosphere, enjoy the magnificent view of flowering plants and dense foliage. There are sitting corners at your disposal with rattan chairs, which afford you the luxury to sit around the gardens comfortably without being disturbed.
The opulent living and dining area is directly accessible from the swimming pool and is open-sided to allow the room to be flooded by natural lighting and the cool Balinese air. The antique furniture and artefacts placed around the spacious room, only add to the already magnanimous Balinese hospitality and warmth extended to the guests. Once you arrive at the villa, be prepared to be wooed by the simple and naturalistic beauty of the humble décor of Villa East Indies. The living area is well-furnished with couches and chairs all around the corners and in the middle. There are separate settees and rattan chairs also in the room along with a large dining table which can seat all guests comfortably. A fully-equipped kitchen with modern amenities is also available where the house chef will willingly delight you with finger-licking good local and international cuisines. The room is decked out in traditional Balinese artwork and sculptures that speak volumes of Balinese heritage. Additionally, there is a multi-purpose gym for the use of the guests, with an all glass door wall to offer beautiful views of the gardens.
As the villa is wholesome and self-sufficient, it is owing to the wonderful staff who will ensure that all your needs are met without having to traverse far and leave the comforts of the villa. The chef will tickle your fancy with new dishes every day and since the villa is child-friendly the staff also caters to special babysitting requests.
The villa is located in the dainty village of Pererenan, near the Pererenan beach and there are massive paddy fields in the vicinity, which are a great way to learn more about Balinese culture. If you wish to drive up to Seminyak, it is not a long journey, and you can reach in 30-40 minutes easily.
10/10Villa East Indies exceeded all expectations during our two week stay. The villa's traditional architecture provides seamless zoning for individual relaxation, quiet recreation, childrens' amusements and games, with the expansive lounge area for dining and combined family activities. The pool became our daily hub of family fun. The bedrooms are all generously sized, each with a beautiful bathroom, and all are traditionally decorated with individually chosen antiques. The Villa staff are superb, and are clearly devoted to their roles, all providing exemplary service and anticipating any requirements. They are knowledgeable, show kindness and patience with the children, and are the perfect solution to any babysitting occasions. The villa sits in a large secure compound, surrounded by active rice fields, about 30-40 minutes drive from Seminyak, although it is so complete and self contained that we did not often leave the grounds. Almost all our meals were prepared by the Chef, including an amazing suckling pig banquet one night, and a lush seafood banquet another night. The chef is flexible and obliging, as well as versatile, switching with ease between traditional Balinese dishes, modern salads, and an eclectic list of requests. We all felt very fortunate to have chosen Villa East Indies for our holiday in Bali. The Villa is in total harmony with its environment and is offered by the absent owners with a complete spirit of generosity. We thank them for sharing.
10/10Truly one of the most amazing villa I've ever experienced. The Service is exceptional, the food prepared by the resident chef is to die for and the arrangement of the garden reminds me to paradise. The very spacious bedrooms are decorated tasteful as is the whole residence throughout. As I'm been told the dutch colonial furniture and art work are collected by the villa owners over a long period and originals. Definitely a must come back!
10/10This astutely run villa hits the mark on every level. The perfect package - A great (emerging/ new) location, an authentic and classic villa, astute staff, large grounds, and a great pool. The pool was expansive and had dining options and day beds. Tea by the pool was a daily ritual and always offered to us just at the right time by the friendly (and obviously perceptive) staff. Sun-down drinks also arrived with deft timing - well done guys - it is the little things that make the difference. The staff informed us they had worked for the current owner for a long time and it showed - confident, friendly, competent, discreet, and willing - you can tell that the owners have mastered the art of Bali Villa living and to stay here is to experience Bali as a villa veteran. Believe me it is a great feeling to be a Bali villa veteran - even if it is just for a short while. We were told that the expanse of rice paddies that forms the main view are leased by the Villa in order to preserve not just the view (which we enjoyed) but also to preserve the ritual of rice harvesting that is so important to Balinese culture. We found ourselves unwittingly being drawn into the soul of Bali by observing this simple daily rhythm - our own rice harvesting vista. The villa itself I would described as classic and has an easy, open, and enduring feeling about it. We loved the multiple wings and dining options, the garden full of flowers, fruit, and shade, and were drawn to the many incredible artifacts that are discreetly placed throughout the villa. The location was perfect for our needs - 5 minutes to Canggu beach / Echo beach and close enough to Seminyak to make for an easy drive (for Bali standards) yet far enough away to enjoy some piece and quiet. A great balance between beach, rural, and nightlife. We stayed with 2 young children who enjoyed a safe, fun, and entertaining time at the Villa. I would recommend booking and enjoying this place before the word gets out.
